Materials & Purchasing Manager - Oklahoma City, OK
CMP CorporationPosition Information Seat Summary: This seat owns materials and purchasing for one of CMP's manufacturing sites. The person in it is accountable for purchase orders, vendor performance, inventory health, and site logistics (receiving, shipping, and internal material movement) at our OK facility, and personally leads, manages, and holds accountable the people who do this work. This is a single-site seat. It coordinates with both where materials, cores, or shared vendors cross between sites. Roles and Responsibilities Order Management: Own purchase order creation, tracking, expediting, documentation, and compliance. Establish and maintain accurate reorder points and min/max stock levels in NetSuite, based on actual usage andproduction plans. Lead, Manage, Accountability (LMA): Serve as the single accountable owner for materials, purchasing, and logistics performance at the OK location. Directly lead purchasing, receiving, shipping, warehouse, and material-handling staff. Own this seat's measurables in the weekly Operations L10 and bring issues forward to be solved. Inventory Health & Production Flow: Manage replenishment so production is never held for a production-critical part, while keeping raw material inventory within its ceiling. Own the data integrity behind inventory planning: Every material movement transacted, cycle counts run on schedule, and NetSuite on-hand matching what is on the shelf. Logistics Execution: Own Logistics: internal material movement, receiving and shipping, freight bill review and cost control, freight-damage claims, and dims and weights accuracy. Make sure orders that are ready to ship on time, and that inbound freight stays within the site budget. Vendor Management & Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, negotiate with, and manage vendors supplying, monitoring delivery, quality, and cost and resolving issues quickly. Coordinate with the Cores Purchasing & Selling seat on inbound cores to, and with the materials team on shared vendors and inter-site transfers. Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve purchasing, inventory, and logistics processes to reduce cost and increase reliability, and document them as CMP core processes. As CMP completes its exit from the parts business to focus on compressors, adapt sourcing and inventory to the narrowing product line, including working down slow-moving parts inventory. How This Seat Is Measured This seat will own single site materials measurables on the Operations scorecard, including: Production-critical parts out of stock or on backorder Vendor PO lines past due Cycle count accuracy Days of work (material on hand) Orders ready but not shipped more than one day Raw material inventory value Incoming freight GWC for This Seat CMP uses GWC – Gets it, Wants it, has the Capacity – to evaluate the fit for every seat. All three must be a genuine "Yes". Gets It: Understands this seat inherits a working system at the site, built over the last two years, and that the job is to own it, keep it disciplined, and make it better, not rebuild it. Understands that inventory decisions are only as good as the data behind them, and that the seat owns that data. Understands EOS components: One seat, one accountable owner, measurables reviewed weekly. Wants It: Is comfortable being the named, accountable owner for other people's work, including the people-management and reporting side of the seat. This is called out explicitly because the prior holder of this role was excellent at execution and vendor relationships but did not want the people-management side. That should be tested directly in interviews, not assumed. Wants to own a site's materials function end-to-end and be the go-to person on the floor when something is missing. Has the Capacity: Can be on site daily and responsive to production needs. Has the bandwidth for a hands-on data-validation effort in the first 60–90 days before the seat settles into a steady state. Has the ERP and process skills to run…
