Materials Planner

With approximately 8,800 employees and $48+ billion in assets, the organization offers the opportunity to support a large-scale supply chain operation where effective inventory planning directly impacts reliable utility operations. This role provides hands-on ownership of material planning, forecasting, SAP data, and supplier coordination across critical inventory categories. The Materials Planner will develop and manage inventory strategies for assigned commodities, ensuring materials are available to meet current and future operational requirements while maintaining appropriate inventory levels. This role will analyze material usage and forecasts, maintain material data in SAP, and coordinate closely with suppliers, Strategic Sourcing, internal stakeholders, and auditors to improve availability, cost, quality, and overall supply chain performance. Responsibilities Develop and manage inventory strategies for assigned materials and commodities. Plan and forecast material requirements based on historical usage, future demand, and operational needs. Monitor inventory levels, material consumption, availability, and upcoming requirements. Maintain accurate material master data and inventory information within SAP MM. Analyze inventory and supply chain data to identify trends, shortages, excess inventory, and opportunities for improvement. Coordinate material delivery and availability to support operational schedules and business requirements. Manage supplier relationships and monitor vendor performance related to delivery, quality, pricing, and material availability. Partner with Strategic Sourcing to address supplier performance, market conditions, and future material requirements. Monitor market and industry trends that may impact material availability, pricing, lead times, or supply continuity. Work with internal stakeholders to understand material requirements and resolve inventory or supply issues. Support inventory controls, audits, reporting, and compliance with established supply chain procedures. Use Excel and supply chain data to develop analyses, forecasts, and recommendations. Qualifications 5–7 years of materials management, inventory planning, or supply chain experience required. Hands-on SAP Materials Management (SAP MM) experience. Experience maintaining and managing material master data in SAP. Demonstrated experience with inventory planning, demand forecasting, and material requirements planning. Experience managing suppliers and coordinating material availability with vendors. Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience analyzing inventory and supply chain data. Experience monitoring material usage, inventory levels, lead times, and future requirements. Experience supporting supply chain operations within utility, energy, industrial, manufacturing, or similarly complex environments preferred.
