Sapphire RecruitmentMaterials Planner Salary: $85,000–$100,000 DOE Sapphire Recruitment is partnering with an established manufacturing company to hire an experienced Materials Planner . This is a hands-on role responsible for keeping production schedules, materials, purchasing, and inventory aligned with customer demand. This position is a strong fit for someone who likes to stay close to the operation. You'll work directly with production, purchasing, warehouse, engineering, suppliers, and other internal teams to identify issues, adjust priorities, and keep materials and production moving. What You'll Do Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, capacity, inventory, and material availability. Monitor production progress and adjust schedules when priorities, staffing, equipment, or material availability change. Use ERP/MRP data to identify material requirements, shortages, and potential supply risks. Coordinate purchasing activities and follow up with suppliers on pricing, lead times, delivery schedules, and past-due orders. Maintain appropriate inventory and planning parameters, including lead times, safety stock, reorder points, and order quantities. Work directly with production and warehouse teams to resolve material, inventory, and scheduling issues. Monitor supplier performance and address delivery or quality concerns that could affect production. Analyze inventory, planning, and purchasing data to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, cost savings, and material availability. Supervise and provide day-to-day direction to a Purchasing & Planning Coordinator. Communicate changing priorities, shortages, and production risks across departments. What We're Looking For 5+ years of experience in materials planning, production planning, purchasing, supply chain, or a similar manufacturing role. Strong understanding of manufacturing ERP/MRP systems. Experience developing and managing production schedules. Knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, and supplier management. Strong Excel, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage changing priorities and work effectively across departments. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred. We're looking for someone who is hands-on, collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working in a smaller manufacturing environment. You'll need to be willing to get out into the production area, communicate directly with the people involved, work through problems, and adjust your approach when business needs change.
