Parker (Meggitt) Aerospace – Fire, Safety, and Power Systems Division – Simi Valley, CA, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Simi Valley, CA, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select energy markets, particularly in nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Lockheed Martin, among others. MATERIALS MANAGER Job Designation The Materials Manager oversees activities related to the purchase of materials, material control, inventory control, shipping/receiving and stores functions. The Materials Manager will ensure the fiscal financial plan and optimum cost effectiveness, while aligning tasks with company policy and procedures. Responsibilities Effectively manages and develops staff for the Materials Function and oversees the related activities Ensures a steady flow of work is maintained through the manufacturing areas with proper routing, scheduling, dispatching and expediting of materials, including follow-up of work in process Sets team’s goals and objectives to achieve the functional, departmental and businesses objectives Maintains surveillance over all materials, functions, and work in process, according to established rules and policies Identifies roadblocks and inefficiencies in business processes and make improvements to ensure requirements are met efficiently Maintain the lowest possible net inventories and assure economical make/buy decisions Ensures general safety, compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and company requirement Leads and directs work for team of employees as defined by business needs Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations Other Responsibilities As Assigned Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary Job REQUIREMENTS Education requirement: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain is preferred or operation management, business, or engineering.
