Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Materials Manager to lead our materials department within a manufacturing environment. The Materials Manager will provide leadership to Materials Supervisors, Material Handlers, Warehouse personnel, Shipping and Receiving personnel, and other assigned employees while coordinating closely with Production, Production Control, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Finance, Logistics, suppliers, and customers as required. The ideal candidate will excel in managing complex systems, fostering cross-functional communication, and driving efficiency across all materials-related processes. Duties Directly supervise Materials Supervisors, Material Handlers, Warehouse personnel, Shipping and Receiving personnel, and other assigned employees Develop and maintain effective material-management processes that support production requirements and customer delivery schedules. Ensure timely availability of raw materials, purchased components, packaging materials, and other production requirements. Monitor material requirements and coordinate with Purchasing, Production Control, suppliers, and other departments to prevent shortages. Review production schedules and material requirements to identify potential shortages or supply risks. Coordinate material planning activities with Production Control and Purchasing. Monitor inventory levels and ensure appropriate quantities are maintained. Establish appropriate inventory levels for critical materials and components. Monitor excess, obsolete, slow-moving, and inactive inventory. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred. Associate degree, technical education, or equivalent manufacturing/materials experience may be considered. Minimum 5–10 years of progressive materials, warehouse, logistics, or supply-chain experience, preferably within the automotive manufacturing industry. Minimum 3–5 years of proven supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Demonstrated experience leading hourly employees in Materials, Warehouse, Shipping, Receiving, or Logistics operations. Experience with MRP/ERP systems and material requirements planning. Experience with inventory management, cycle counting, inventory accuracy, and material traceability.
