Sullivan County Community HospitalQUALIFICATIONS Education College degree in a business-related major or equivalent experience Experience/Skills 1-2 years’ experience with an appropriate degree, or 3-5 years’ experience in Hospital Material Management Understands the systems approach to material management concepts Independently makes decisions and follows up with appropriate parties Demonstrates computer literacy Works under pressure and meets deadlines while remaining tactful and courteous Manages contracts that frequently require tact and the ability to make or defer important decisions and meet demands Practices professional verbal communication skills Hears sufficiently for communication purposes Required Licenses/Certifications N/A Working Conditions Clean, well-lit working environment with good ventilation ROUTINE RESPONSIBILITIES Behavioral Expectations Consistently complies with established Behavioral Expectations Major Task Supervises the Material Management program Researches and develops purchasing arrangements for commodities, pricing, contracts, and vendor stocking Researches and makes recommendations on new products Coordinates patient chargeable items in accordance with the hospital’s accounting procedures Keeps abreast of new technologies Coordinates Capital Equipment Recommends adding or deleting inventory products Keeps abreast of hospital purchasing contracts Signs all purchase orders and contractual agreements for procurement of supplies Keeps administration informed of problems and achievements Participates in the hiring, reviewing and evaluating of Material Management staff Establishes and implements departmental goals, policies and procedures Keeps informed of current administrative policies and procedures, and ensures their implementation and adherence Implements all other assignments and projects directed by Administration Page Break Duties Recommends new or alternate materials to the Product Committee and recommends designs that are of better quality, greater procurability, or lower cost Works independent and reports activity or recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer Recommends additions and deletions of inventory stock supplies Accurately performs annual storeroom physical inventory Monitors and initiates departmental physical inventories Completes surveys, or reports involving department at the request of departments, supervisors, or administrators with attention to time constraints Evaluates all requests for equipment and supplies and makes recommendations to supervisor Coordinates the activities of the department with the hospital’s Disaster Plan Accurately maintains records and documentation Provides monthly department staff meetings, maintains meeting minutes and documents attendance Financial Management Develops, presents, and demonstrates an understanding of the on-going budget process Prepares annual departmental budget Keeps inventory quantities in line with hospital goals Keeps salary expenses, including overtime, within budget limits Keeps all other departmental operating expenses within budget limits Keeps FTEs within budget limits Submits all reports with attention to time constraints Meets goals and objectives established on annual evaluation and'or as part of budgeting process Full time/Day shift 80 hours/Biweekly
