Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Materials / Inventory Specialist to join our supply chain and warehouse operations team. In this vital role, you will oversee inventory levels, manage procurement processes, and optimize materials handling to ensure seamless warehouse distribution and logistics flow. Your expertise will drive process improvements, support data-driven decision-making, and enhance overall supply chain efficiency. Responsibilities Manage inventory control processes, including stock replenishment, cycle counting, and discrepancy resolution using warehouse management systems and ERP software such as AS400 or similar platforms. Coordinate procurement activities by sourcing materials, negotiating with suppliers, and managing contracts to ensure cost-effective purchasing aligned with demand planning. Utilize data mining, analytics tools like Power BI, and Excel data analysis to monitor inventory trends, forecast needs, and identify opportunities for process improvement. Conduct root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies or supply chain disruptions, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Oversee logistics inventory management, including shipping & receiving, order fulfillment, and materials handling in compliance with safety standards such as heavy lifting protocols. Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, retail management, and logistics teams to optimize stocking strategies and improve warehouse operations. Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier performance, and inventory movements while supporting continuous process enhancements through data visualization and supply chain analytics. Requirements Proven experience in warehouse distribution, inventory management software, or supply chain operations with a strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP platforms like AS400 or similar. Demonstrated skills in data analytics, data collection, spreadsheets (Excel), and visualization tools such as Power BI for reporting and analysis purposes. Strong negotiation abilities coupled with supplier management experience to secure favorable contracts and pricing agreements. Technical proficiency in materials handling equipment such as forklifts; certification preferred but not mandatory. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis, demand planning, and financial modeling related to inventory control. Knowledge of logistics processes including shipping & receiving, 3PL (third-party logistics), e-commerce fulfillment, and retail merchandising practices. Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and managing sourcing strategies within a fast-paced environment.
