Summary About the Position: This position is located within the Nutritional Medicine Flight at David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base, California. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Learn more about this agency This job is open to The public U.S. Citizens, Nationals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Duties Performs a wide range of ordering and receiving, including verifying shipments and handling discrepancies for subsistence and other supplies in a commercial kitchen. Manages the storage of medical, non-medical, and office supplies by stacking, palletizing, and rotating items using a first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory system. Maintains records and documentation by using computer systems to input data, track inventory levels, and manage purchasing accounts for various supplies. Issues and delivers subsistence, medical, and office items by assembling requested supplies and ensuring all required paperwork is accurately completed. Conducts and assists with weekly and monthly inventories to ensure accuracy and helps resolve any discrepancies found. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. A pre-employment and annual physical examinations are required. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license. This position may be required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as working either fixed or rotating shifts. Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Basic Requirements for Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator) WG-6907-05: Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Materials Handler (MVO) without more than normal supervision. I work independently and liaise with prime vendors to order subsistence and supply items, and receive, store using first in, first out procedures, and issue items in a kitchen warehouse. I am able to use an electronic database to maintain kitchen inventory for a dining facility and inpatient hospital, set PAR levels, and comply with monthly disinterested inventory requirements. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Personnel are often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions.
