We’re looking for a Materials Handler II to join our Logistics team — someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, has a sharp eye for detail, and takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly. This role is essential to ensuring the right materials get to the right place at the right time so our team can continue making the world’s most trusted multi-tools.

Position Summary

Handle, allocate and transfer material, equipment, kits, supplies and shortages that are required and conducive to maintaining an efficient material flow through storage, receiving and operations areas. Accurately maintain documentation and inventory data within AX Dynamics (MRP system) and other information systems. Perform inbound freight receiving functions. Conduct cycle counts and first pass root cause analysis. Maintain continual flexibility to reprioritize work based on the needs of operations. Operates a variety of materials handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand truck etc.

 

Essential Functions

  • Receive and process shipments from raw-material and in-process vendors and off-site warehouse. Process paperwork for shipping and receiving of raw materials, components, and MRO items.
  • Maintains inventory accuracy by performing continuous cycle count program.
  • Physically transfer materials weighing up to 50 lbs. between operation areas.
  • Perform transactions in Dynamics 365 through scan gun and other systems to maintain accurate and timely inventory data according to work instructions and/or training.
  • Weighs all subcontracting parts coming in and going out to vendors.
  • Locate materials and expedite part shortages within the building that may be required for completion of assemblies or to feed constrained work centers to maximize capacity utilization.
  • Schedule and arrange pick up of components from outside vendors.
  • Maintain consumable items for department consumption. Update daily usage information to suppliers through system.
  • Assist, verify and maintain inventory documentation/information utilizing physical inventory, Dynamics 365, travelers/routers. When discrepancies occur, partner with stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Prepare shipments of parts (including RTV parts) to send to vendors. Preparation includes stacking tubs, scanning, stretch-wrap and weighing shipments.
  • Dispose of scrap materials to scrap bins and process scrap transactions.
  • Utilize small hand tools and operate materials handling equipment including forklifts, skids, pallet handlers, hand trucks, and other similar equipment.

Hazardous Waste Responsibilities

  • Follows all company procedures and regulatory requirements for the handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
  • Understands and complies with applicable federal, state (Oregon DEQ), and local regulations concerning hazardous materials and waste.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation and labeling on all hazardous materials and containers.
  • Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as required when handling hazardous substances.
  • Reports spills, unsafe conditions, or incidents involving hazardous waste to the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team immediately.
  • Participates in hazardous waste and safety training provided by the company.

Additional Functions

  • Perform both time and incident-based cycle counts. Reconcile inventory discrepancies; perform first pass root cause analysis and possible corrective action. Partner with Material Handler III or Material Coordinator to verify root causes and track them in the cycle count log, and to implement corrective action.
  • Function as a back-up for certain Material Handler or basic scheduling functions as skills develop through on-the-job training and as business needs dictate.
  • Assist, guide, and train Material Handler I or temporary associates.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two to four years’ experience with materials handling or warehouse experience.
  • Ability to effectively utilize basic shop math skills required.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and production systems.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, speak, and write English at a level to effectively utilize and interpret safety documents and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, & Internet Explorer) and MRP inventory module experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Ability to lift/move heavy objects—physical stamina required.
  • Forklift and riding pallet jack licenses required (training and certification provided).
  • Flex workdays or work hours to meet business needs.
