Summary About the Position: This position is located at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital, Fort Polk, Louisiana. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Learn more about this agency This job is open to The public U.S. Citizens, Nationals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Duties Store incoming shipments in a holding area until items are processed for storage. Receive incoming shipments of medical supplies, blank forms, and publications from several supply sources. Input receipt into computer, mark receipt with index number/location. Check stock identification change lists to ensure the selection and assembly of proper items for issue. Complete necessary documentation with stock information and quantity for the requisitioning of medical supplies from a supplier. Set up proper storage areas for material within the general warehousing plan. Operate forklifts capable of lifting 2,000 to 6,000 pounds as high as 168 inches to move supplies. Comply with governing directions in respect to storage of medical items, blank forms, and publications. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. This position requires the incumbent to operate a motor vehicle and a valid state driver's license is required. This position requires the incumbent to obtain within 30 days of employment a Class D driver's license for heavy trucks; and other certifications necessary for operation of government vehicles. A pre-placement medical examination is required. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 70 pounds may be required. This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is, therefore, subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccination. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Materials Handler ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Handler duties. I have knowledge of warehousing methods and procedures, shipping and issuing techniques in order to select proper storage locations, stock and palletize items. I am knowledgeable in loading and unloading methods to prevent damage during transport and to expedite unloading.
