Job Overview The Materials Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the movement, tracking, receiving, packaging, and shipment of components throughout the manufacturing process. This position plays an important role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting customer delivery requirements, expediting outside processing, and ensuring completed product is prepared and documented for shipment. The Materials Coordinator works closely with Production & Materials Management, Quality, and Purchasing to assist with the monitoring of customer requirements, prioritizing deliveries, expediting work where required, and maintaining accurate material and inventory records. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, and components. Monitor inventory levels and investigate inventory discrepancies. Review customer backlogs, open orders, due dates, and delivery requirements to establish priorities. Expedite jobs and materials through production to support customer delivery requirements. Communicate priorities and potential delivery concerns to Production, Quality, and Management. Monitor completed work and coordinate products requiring final inspection, packaging, or shipment. Request and coordinate packing slips and required shipping documentation. Package finished components in accordance with customer and internal packaging requirements. Verify part numbers, quantities, purchase order requirements, and documentation prior to shipment. Receive components returning from outside subcontractors and processing suppliers. Verify quantities and documentation for incoming subcontracted product. Track parts sent to and returning from outside processing suppliers. Follow up on overdue subcontracted work as required. Ensure received product is properly identified and routed to the appropriate production or inspection area. Maintain accurate ERP transactions relating to inventory, receiving, material movement, outside processing, and shipping. Assist with physical inventory counts and cycle counts. Maintain organized inventory, staging, shipping, and receiving areas. Ensure appropriate identification, handling, protection, and preservation of components. Assist in resolving material shortages, missing components, documentation issues, and other conditions that could affect customer delivery. Support on-time delivery and other departmental performance objectives. Perform other materials, logistics, shipping/receiving, and production-support duties as required. Qualifications Previous experience in manufacturing, materials, inventory control, shipping/receiving, production coordination, or a similar role is preferred. Aerospace or precision manufacturing experience is considered an asset. Experience with ERP/MRP systems is preferred. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to understand purchase orders, work orders, packing slips, and manufacturing documentation. Strong communication and follow-up skills. Ability to work effectively with Production, Quality, Purchasing, Shipping/Receiving, and outside suppliers. Comfortable working in both an office and manufacturing environment.
