Material Specialist

Job Summary The Material Specialist is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining inventory of electronic components, raw materials, and finished goods in support of manufacturing operations. This position ensures material accuracy, inventory integrity, proper ESD handling, and timely delivery of materials to production while maintaining a safe and organized warehouse environment. A Juki Tower Operator manages automated inventory storage towers—such as the Juki ISM UltraFlex series—used in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and electronics manufacturing. The Juki tower operation applies only to employees assigned and qualified for the SMT material area and the primary role is to handle component reels, monitor electronic inventory software, and ensure a seamless flow of materials to the pick-and-place production lines. Core Responsibilities Inventory Management o Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing slips. o Accurately store materials and electronic components in designated locations. o Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counting and inventory reconciliation activities. o Monitor stock levels and report shortages, discrepancies, or damaged materials. o Rotate inventory using FIFO or FEFO, as applicable, based on shelf-life, moisture sensitivity and customer requirements o Support physical inventory counts and annual audits. o Accountability for inventory accuracy, kit completeness, on-time staging, cycle-count accuracy, line-shortage prevention and transaction accuracy. Material Handling o Pick, stage, and deliver materials to production lines according to manufacturing schedules. o Issue materials to production using ERP/MRP systems and established procedures. o Process returns of unused materials from production and update inventory records. o Package and prepare finished goods for shipment according to customer requirements. o Handle sensitive electronic components in compliance with ESD control procedures. Operational Excellence o Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness using 5S principles. o Follow warehouse safety procedures and use appropriate PPE. o Operate material handling equipment safely, including pallet jacks, carts, and forklifts when authorized o Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency. o Assist in implementing best practices for inventory control and material flow. Documentation and Compliance o Maintain accurate inventory transactions and material movement records. o Ensure traceability of electronic components and materials where required. o Comply with company quality standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations. o Follow ISO, ESD, and quality management system requirements Tower Operator o Scan barcodes of incoming electronic component reels at the Juki Incoming Material Station. o Insert component reels, sticks, and trays into the automated storage tower systems. o Use integrated software to track component quantities, dynamic storage locations, and unique IDs. o Retrieve requested component reels from towers quickly to prevent assembly line stoppages. o Operate or interface with integrated X-ray component counters to update inventory values automatically. o Perform basic cleaning, error clearing, and routine troubleshooting of the tower's automated doors and conveyors Required Qualifications Minimum 1 to 3 years of warehouse, stockroom, inventory control, or logistics experience. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to accurately perform data entry and inventory transactions. Ability to read and understand work instructions and shipping documents.
