Open Systems Inc.Job Title: Material Planner I Location: Livonia, MI, 48150 Duration: 12+ months (Possible Extension) U.S. Citizenship or Green Card Required Job Summary The Material Planner I is responsible for ensuring the availability of materials required to support production schedules. This role works closely with suppliers, Purchasing, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the right materials are delivered in the correct quantities and within the required timelines. The position will use ERP planning data, forecasts, and demand requirements to manage material flow and address potential supply issues. Key Responsibilities Utilize the company’s ERP system to review material and production requirements, including forecasts and dependent demand, to support continuous production. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure planning-generated purchase orders, releases, and forecasts are received and understood. Monitor material requirements and proactively identify, escalate, and resolve discrepancies or supply issues with the appropriate cross-functional teams. Manage material requirement changes resulting from Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), forecast updates, and other production changes. Partner with Operations to ensure schedule changes are properly supported and achievable based on material availability. Participate in program end-of-life and material balance-out meetings. Track supplier deliveries and shipments to ensure materials arrive according to production requirements. Follow up with suppliers regarding shipment status and report material delivery updates. Review and analyze expedited material requests and coordinate appropriate actions as needed. Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and applicable requirements. Perform additional material planning and supply chain duties as assigned. Required Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of supply chain experience. Preferred Education & Experience Associate’s degree. ASCM certification. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel, including advanced formulas, PivotTables, and IF/THEN functions Word Outlook Preferred Skills & Knowledge Basic understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes, from suppliers through customers. General understanding of business and manufacturing practices. Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to triage short-term material recovery needs and identify root causes. Ability to support corrective action initiatives to prevent recurring material and supply issues. Understanding of material flow, inventory triggers, and supply planning principles. Self-motivated and proactive approach to identifying and improving processes.
