Material Handler/Yard Jockey (12-hr Rotating Shifts 6AM-6:30PM)

Job Summary: This position is responsible for efficiently and safely moving trailers in and out of dock doors and to the designated areas coordinating with the warehouse team and performing material handling tasks as needed. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, computer skills, and a commitment to maintaining a smooth flow of operations in the yard. This position requires forklift operations, as a material handler inside the warehouse when the full-time driver is on schedule. Efficiently load and unload trailers, weigh and receive products using various forklift equipment, rack by FEFO and item, pull orders, while following current Standard Operating Procedures. Duties/Responsibilities: This position requires approximately 70 percent of your time inside the warehouse as a material handler. Willing to be on call for absent colleagues. Operate yard trucks and spotting equipment to move trailers within the yard and to the designated spots in an orderly and efficient manner. Ensure the efficient and safe positioning of trailers and products for loading and unloading operations. Collaborate with warehouse and office teams to prioritize trailer movements based on operational needs. Must perform Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections on yard equipment. Inform proper parties of defective equipment and knowledge of out-of-service policies. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of equipment, yard, and warehouse. Effectively communicate with warehouse leads and office personnel the trailer numbers and dock doors associated with them via radio and computer entries. Report any issues, delays, or incidents promptly to supervisors and relevant personnel. Collaborate with team members to ensure a seamless flow of operations. Move, load, and unload food products, materials, and/or packages by hand, pallet jack, or forklift from trailers and rail cars as needed. Follow all food safety processes and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned. Skills/Abilities: Strong communication skills Collaborate with team members to ensure a seamless flow of operations. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Computer skills are necessary to update our yard management tablet. Commitment to safety and compliance with regulations. Education and Experience: Required: Valid Driver’s License Required: Possess a willingness to learn to operate tractor-trailers on private property Preferred:1 year tractor/trailer experience Preferred: CDL or willing to obtain Physical and/or Travel Requirements: Comfortable working in various weather conditions Extended periods of standing, walking, and operating equipment Can perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds at a time.
