Optimal’s mission is to reduce the cost of healthcare by providing efficient supply chain solutions.” Job Summary The Material Handler (Shipper) ships, counts, verifies, measures, or weighs articles to verify contents of shipments against bills of lading or packing slip, invoices, or storage of records by performing the following duties. Reads shipping schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. Picks or conveys materials and items from receiving areas to storage or to other designated areas. Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code. Sorts and stores expired and damaged goods in the quarantine/damaged goods area. Make sure the product is clean and free of vendor labels or markings. Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves or conveys orders to the packing station or shipping department. Marks materials with identifying information. Opens boxes, crates, and other containers. Unloads and unpacks incoming shipments. Prepares parcels for shipping. Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed. Weighs or counts items for distribution within the warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards. Arranges stock parts in specified sequence for picking by other workers. Attaches identification data onto the article. Records factors causing goods to be returned. Uses a computer to enter records. Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications. Prepares parcels for shipping. Actively participates in meetings/workshops designed to enhance employee performance. Support the quality management system. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Required Education High school graduate or equivalent. Required Experience Two to three years’ experience with WMS software. Required Licenses and Certifications N/A Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Able to operate multiple types of MHE. Cross-trained in multiple departments. Basic MS Office skills. Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Preferred Qualifications Able to operate all MHE preferred.
