Material Handler

Areas of Responsibilities: Receiving and issuing materials. Ensure a safe working environment while abiding by Tongrun’s Safety Policies. Ensure that all material received is counted and verified against the packing slip for quantity and type. Inspect all incoming raw material to ascertain we have received a quality product and notify Purchasing of all discrepancies. Verifies the packing slip items against the Purchase Order items for accuracy and any special requirements called out on the purchase order. Notifies purchasing of any items out of date that are still not received against a purchase order. Identifies and puts away all raw materials received to their proper place or the department that is accountable for said items. Stages and identifies any defective materials awaiting pick up by vendors. Processes same paperwork once items have been picked up by vendor. Is responsible for data entry of all items received in Receiving Log located on shop floor and turning all paperwork into the proper department for further processing. Must ensure correct length, width, thickness, and the visual quality of the metal. Must have a thorough knowledge of all sheet sizes and types. Able to use the necessary tools of measurement which include micrometer, caliper, and tape measure. Must promptly report any discrepancies to the Area Lead or Fabrication Plant manager. Able to accurately complete all documentation associated with the job prior to sending the parts to the next operation. This includes maintaining the sheet metal inventory. Must be able to operate a forklift safely and efficiently. Must be able to sort and dispose of all scrap and place it in appropriate containers. Performs other tasks as directed by the Area Leads or management. Advises immediate Area Lead on all problems encountered and not resolved. Ensure compliance with Quality QMS 9001 and ISO 9001:2015. Ensure compliance with EMS 14001 and ISO 14001:2015. Requirements: Must be able to handle parts up to 35 pounds. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. May be asked to perform other tasks within reasonable exertion limits to assist other shop employees as required. High school education is desired but not mandatory. Must be computer literate and capable of working independently with little supervision.
