Material Handler
NorkolPosition Summary Hours: 1st Shift 5:00 a.m.. to 1:00 p.m. The Recycling driver is responsible for accurately and efficiently weighing, loading, and preparing recyclable paper materials—including tubs, bales, and end-piece rolls—for shipment. This role ensures all materials are handled safely, equipment is maintained, documentation is completed accurately, and trailers are loaded to maximize space and weight. The driver must maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all required safety protocols. Key Responsibilities Material Handling & Processing Weigh and load tubs, bales, cores, and end-piece rolls of paper accurately and efficiently. Tie off bales, band end pieces, bins and cores as needed. Ensure each trim bale has five (5) wires, and is labeled with baler# and initial Replace baling wire when needed. Load trailers to maximize space, weight distribution, and stability. Equipment Operation & Safety Operate a forklift safely and efficiently (forklift certification required). Follow all facility and OSHA safety protocols. Confirm trailers are properly chocked with trailer stands in place. Inspect trailers for holes, roof or flooring damage before loading. Blow out and sweep debris from balers, scales, and work areas. Quality & Compliance Ensure proper recyclable materials are identified, ensure bales and tubs are not contaminated with other materials (tape, craft with white, garbage). Record weights, materials, trailer numbers, and load details accurately. Complete paperwork neatly, legibly, and accurately with copies for drivers and office staff. Qualifications Forklift certification required. Experience in recycling or material handling preferred. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail and safety.
