JOB SUMMARY: The Material Handler is responsible for safe and efficient movement, storage, loading, unloading, and staging of raw materials, fabricated components, and finished products throughout a heavy industrial fabrication facility. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to: Receive, transport, and stage raw materials, fabricated parts, and finished products. Fulfill cut plans demanded via Steelhead ERP Supply production work centers with required materials and remove completed work. Load and unload trucks using forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, and other equipment. Move large steel components and fabricated assemblies safely. Verify material identification, quantities, and condition before movement. Maintains compliance with established safety policies and use of Equipment, including but not limited to policies regarding personal protective equipment, workplace injuries and illnesses, lock out/tag out, etc. Completing required safety training. Conducting inventory audits through cycle counts Continuing education and training. · Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to: · Periodically interact with customers for parts, orders, pick-ups, or questions. · Assisting in assembly or packaging tasks · Assisting in special projects KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: · Proactive and self-motivated, with high attention to detail and follow-through. · Good communication skills · Ability to read shipping documents and work orders. · Basic computer skills. · Good organizational skills REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: · High school diploma or GED. · 1-3 years of industrial or warehouse experience. · Forklift operating experience. · Inventory control within an ERP system (preferred) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: · Lift up to 50 lbs. frequently. · Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout shift. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work in industrial environments with noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Limited-climate control to include heat but no A/C. Filtered air and frequent air flow from opening outside doors in the summer. Heavy industrial fabrication facility requiring PPE including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, hearing protection.
