Material Handler

Position Summary: The Material Handler will maintain production and distribution of product by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies, staging, and loading finished product. Perform general duties including handling all incoming and outgoing inventory for manufacturing, including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving material. Ensure all production areas are clear, stocked, and ready to fulfill orders. Job Duties: Operate forklift as required to support manufacturing Pull/transfer coils and sheets and complete appropriate packaging per the specifications of each order Load and unload will-call customers, LTL vans and flatbed trucks with forklift (includes palleted coils & sheets, load customer equipment and maintain / log all shipments) Count, record, and report inventory as required including but not limited to sheet, coil, and accessories Report defective or substandard material, supplies or products Represent the Company professionally in all daily interactions with customers, freight personnel and other employees Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product Document product shipments by recording or verifying units shipped or received as required Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and reporting any deficiencies found Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory Maintain in-process inventory at work centers by delivering materials and supplies Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders Able to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of the organization, including working overtime as required Comply with all safety rules and regulations Other duties as assigned Education A high school diploma or GED is preferred; trade school or military experience a plus Experience & Skills Tow motor experience preferred Overhead crane experience preferred Demonstrated mechanical aptitude Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds Requires solid written and verbal communication skills Team oriented with effective communication skills preferred Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required Self-motivated with the ability to work under minimal supervision Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy are required Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to multi-task Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify Why Team Members join Sheffield Metals: Team-oriented environment A real Work life/ Home life balance Growth and Development Opportunities including a Lifelong Learning Career Path Humble, Hungry, Commited Market Competitive Salaries Free Virtual Doctor visits with $0 copay (Teledoc) Tuition Reimbursement SMI Core Values: Humble – lack excessive ego or concerns about status; emphasize the Team over self Hungry – always looking for more, self-motivated, and diligent; do more than to just get by Committed – to the team, yourself, and the company with an infections attitude EOE/Drug Free Workplace
