The Opportunity When you join Smurfit Westrock, you will be joining a team that creates sustainable paper and packaging solutions that help move the world forward. As a Material Handler - Assembly, you will support efficient production and warehouse operations by safely moving, receiving, storing, and delivering products and materials throughout the facility. You will help keep production lines supplied with the products and components they need while maintaining accurate inventory records, protecting materials from damage, and supporting a safe, clean work environment. How You Will Make an Impact Safely operate a forklift to move products and materials throughout the facility, including loading and unloading trucks and warehousing materials. Inspect the forklift and trailers as required, complete inspection checklists, and ensure safety features are operational before use. Use an RF scanner to process receipts, line issues, returns, and barcode locations while verifying counts, quantities, and product descriptions. Support production lines by delivering requested products and components accurately and on time. Complete paperwork associated with the movement of products and materials in a timely and accurate manner, and perform regular inventory and cycle counts. Maintain cleanliness and safe operating conditions in warehouse, loading dock, and equipment areas, including safely changing forklift propane tanks and/or batteries as needed. Assist other departments as needed and work safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies, procedures, quality standards, and required overtime schedules. What You Need to Succeed Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum of two years of experience operating material handling equipment, including a forklift. Proficient math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Basic computer skills and ability to use an RF scanner for material movement and inventory transactions. Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions and address routine problems in standardized situations. Ability to work required overtime. Ability to meet the physical demands and work environment requirements of the position, with reasonable accommodations as applicable. Preferred Qualifications Experience with warehouse operations, inventory control, cycle counting, shipping, receiving, or supporting manufacturing production lines. Experience completing material handling documentation and verifying product counts, quantities, and descriptions.
