Buyer / Material Planner

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Planning Manager, the Buyer/Material Planner coordinates material inventory in alignment with the master production plan and weekly production schedules. This role ensures that materials are available to support production requirements and maintains appropriate inventory levels. The position performs a variety of duties, including creating and releasing purchase orders, monitoring supplier confirmations, and following up with internal departments and suppliers on past-due or expedited shipments to minimize disruption to the production schedule. This position works in a team-oriented environment and is expected to assist others when necessary, while also demonstrating strong self-starter qualities and the ability to work independently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews MRP messages and generates purchase orders in accordance with requirements
  • Coordinates deliveries on time to the plant based on schedule requirements using Transportation Portal or direct with the Vendor 
  • Maintains Item master parameters Information such as lead time, Minimum order, & safety stock for the respective materials. 
  • Provides Effective dates for all material changes / Bluebooks for existing materials and new products.
  • Manages inventory issues, schedule changes, and cancellations to reduced floor disruptions
  • Monitor Inventory levels for Opportunities to revise purchase Plan/ Open POs to avoid excess inventory. As well as issuing IDR for respective write off for expired or discontinued materials.
  • Works closely with QA  to follow up with Vendors on Quality Issues as needed
  • Work with Inventory Clerk on any vendor return processing for credits
  • Manages subcontracting purchases with 3rd party vendor
  • Work with QA on required Samples for lab batching
  • Completes all Safety and Plant Training as Required
  • Review all AP Issues / vendor payment 3-way match
  • Participate in all Plant LEAN Initiatives – 5S, Kaizen, 5 Why Investigations etc
  • Employ safe work habits and complies with all applicable Diversey safety requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College diploma / post-secondary education with a focus on Supply Chain/ Purchasing preferred. Previous work experience can be considered.
  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • SAP / MRP experience
  • APIC Certification considered an asset

The expected compensation range for this position is between $54,080.00 and 72,110.00 plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills, experience and other factors permitted by law.
