The Master Scheduler owns the Master Production Schedule and ensures the plant builds the right products, in the right quantities, at the right time. This role translates customer demand and sales forecasts into a realistic, capacity-checked build plan and works closely with the shop floor to keep the schedule on track. The position serves as the key link between Sales, Operations, Purchasing, Materials and Finance, and is the trusted source for reliable ship dates. Key Responsibilities: Build and maintain the Master Production Schedule from orders, forecasts, inventory targets and capacity. Run rough-cut capacity planning and flag overloads, bottlenecks, and resource gaps early. Manage time fences and control schedule changes to keep the frozen zone stable. Quote realistic promise dates and maintain available-to-promise for customer service and sales. Lead the MPS portion of the monthly S&OP process. Release work orders and set daily and weekly production priorities. Track WIP, expedite late jobs, and resolve shortages with Purchasing and Materials. Run daily production meetings with supervisors and adjust sequencing when resources change. Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance and Engineering on holds, downtime and engineering changes. Keep ERP/MRP data accurate: routings, lead times, BOM, lot sizes and safety stock. Review MRP output and action exception messages. Report on schedule attainment, on-time delivery, capacity utilization, backlog and inventory turns, and drive continuous improvement in planning processes. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business or a related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years in production planning, scheduling or materials in a manufacturing environment. At least 3 years in a production control role with direct shop-floor scheduling responsibility. Hands-on experience with an ERP/MRP system such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics or Plex. Advanced Excel skills: pivot tables, lookups and building capacity models. Solid understanding of MPS, MRP, capacity planning, lead times and inventory control. Preferred Skills: APICS/ASCM certification: CPIM or CSCP. Experience leading or supporting an S&OP or IBP process. Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma training (Green Belt or higher). Background in make-to-order, engineer-to-order or mixed-mode production. Experience with advanced planning and scheduling (APS) tools or Power BI. Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace, medical device or automotive. Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, PTO, etc.
