Manufacturing Planner / Buyer – CNC Machine Shop

About us RJ Machine is a CNC job shop in San Diego running CNC mills and CNC lathes for a variety of customers. We’re a small team, so your work directly decides whether parts ship on time. The job You’ll be the person who keeps work moving through the shop, from material coming in the door to finished parts going out. You’ll take planning, scheduling and purchasing off the owner’s desk, support shipping and receiving, and keep our ERP (ProShop) accurate. What you’ll do Planning & Purchasing Schedule work orders across the mills and screw machines based on due dates, material and machine availability Buy raw material (bar, plate, etc.) and tooling. Get quotes, place POs, and track deliveries. Send parts out for processing (anodize, plating, heat treat, passivation) and follow up so they come back on time Support quoting by pricing material and outside processing and building quote packages for the owner to review Release and maintain work orders in ProShop ERP: routings, due dates, status and paperwork Track late and at-risk jobs every day and raise problems early Shipping & Receiving Receive material and outside-processed parts. Check them against the PO, file material certs, and log receipts in ProShop. Prepare finished parts for shipment: count, package and label them Write up shipping documents: packing slips, certificates of conformance (C of Cs), material and processing certs, and any customer-required paperwork Schedule pickups and track outgoing shipments (UPS, FedEx, freight, customer pickup) Keep the shipping and receiving area organized Communication Answer customer and vendor questions about order status and delivery dates Work with the floor so operators always know what’s next What we’re looking for 2+ years in production planning, purchasing, scheduling or shipping/receiving in a manufacturing environment (machine shop experience strongly preferred) Can read a blueprint well enough to identify material, finish and outside processes Comfortable in an ERP system and Excel Detail-oriented. Paperwork and counts need to be right the first time. Organized and persistent. You follow up until things get done. Clear communicator with vendors, customers and the shop floor Nice to have ProShop ERP experience Experience buying metals and outside processing in the San Diego area Knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality systems and certification paperwork Machining background (a former machinist who wants an office role is welcome) Pay: $52,000.00 - $68,100.00 per year Benefits: Dental insurance Flexible schedule Health insurance Vision insurance Work Location: In person
