A day in the life You start your morning in SAP, refining cost estimates and validating material masters, BOMs, and routings for a new precision part. A quick sync with engineering and the shop floor clarifies specs so your costs are spot‑on. Before lunch, you analyze a rush inquiry: capacity and material availability are checked with SAP/FastPro, you confirm a lead time, and you line up a production order with critical dates shared to stakeholders. The afternoon brings a new product revision—fixtures, CNC/CMM programs, and drawings are updated; master data is verified for accuracy; and you close the day by reviewing planned vs. actual costs on completed jobs and resolving exception messages to keep the schedule flowing. What you will own Costing, estimating, and master data Build and maintain cost estimates in SAP, including material masters, bills of material, and routings. Compare planned versus actual costs post‑job and adjust cost data accordingly. Release cost estimates and maintain production lot sizes, safety stocks, and related master data. Partner with shop floor and engineering to clarify product specifications and maximize cost accuracy. Solicit quotes from outside service providers (OSPs) for both new and existing processes. Production planning and scheduling Provide reliable lead times for customer inquiries. Analyze, plan, and confirm sales orders against capacity and material availability using SAP/FastPro. Create production orders, review new sales orders, and communicate critical dates to internal teams. Set and maintain production priorities with the Production Scheduler and Production Manager.
