The Position We are looking for a Manufacturing Buyer / Materials Coordinator who can help keep our production floor supplied with the right materials, at the right time, at the right price. This isn't a position where you'll simply issue purchase orders all day. You'll work closely with Production, Engineering, Sales and Management to understand what we need, when we need it and how to source it competitively. You'll communicate with suppliers, obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, track orders, monitor inventory and help prevent material shortages from disrupting production. In a company our size, purchasing has a direct impact on profitability. We want someone who understands that saving money matters—but having material here when Production needs it matters too. What You'll Be Responsible For Purchase raw materials, components, supplies and services required for manufacturing operations Review production requirements and determine purchasing needs Ensure materials arrive in time to meet production schedules and customer commitments Obtain competitive bids and pricing from suppliers Negotiate pricing, lead times, freight and purchasing terms Issue and maintain purchase orders Follow up with suppliers and proactively address late or delayed deliveries Monitor critical suppliers and identify potential supply-chain risks Coordinate incoming material requirements with Production and Inventory Analyze inventory levels and help prevent both shortages and excess inventory Work with Engineering on material changes and new product requirements Help manage engineering changes to minimize obsolete inventory Identify alternate suppliers and sourcing opportunities Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships Track supplier pricing, performance and delivery Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation Work within our ISO 9001:2015 processes and procedures Assist with inventory control, logistics and other purchasing-related responsibilities as needed What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable and comfortable taking ownership. You should be the type of person who notices that something isn't going to arrive on time before it becomes a production problem. Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of purchasing, buying, materials, inventory, manufacturing administration or related experience Manufacturing experience strongly preferred Experience purchasing raw materials, fabricated components or industrial supplies is a plus College degree preferred, but not required Strong negotiation and vendor-management skills Excellent written and verbal communication Strong organizational and time-management skills Detail-oriented and accurate Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills Comfortable working independently and making decisions Financially responsible with an understanding of how purchasing decisions affect company profitability Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Outlook Experience working with ERP/MRP or inventory-management software is preferred ISO 9001 experience is a plus You'll Probably Be Successful Here If...
