Job SummaryThe Manager, Traffic & Logistics will report directly to the VP, Distribution and responsible to manage and plan for logistics policies, objectives, and initiatives. This person will support operations in a high-volume environment that involves supervision of resources, formulating shipping plans, and negotiating with carriers for all Markwins Beauty Brands needs.The Manager, Traffic & Logistics must possess excellent communication, organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills. It is essential this person has an aptitude to function within deadlines while working both independently and as a part of a team.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDevelop operational policies designed to ensure timely product delivery to customersObserve delivery deadlines and special customer needs; checks daily progress of orders to be shippedCoordinate with large retail customers at a management level ensuring that specific routing and ship dates are metDetermine the routing method such as LTL, FTL, FedEx or UPS with the consideration of cost effectiveness and on-time shipmentManage direct shipment arrangements with international and domestic carriersEvaluate carrier performance and propose efficiency suggestionsNegotiate freight rates with carriers and resolve problems to avoid late shipment and charge backsEffectively analyze data and compare options to identify cost-saving opportunities and present options to management to ensure alignmentDevelop operations system to track shipments along the delivery systemSupervise the loading into containers with proper paperwork such as bill of lading to ensure accuracyPlan for manpower requisitions, hire qualified personnel, conducts employee reviewsUse analysis and reporting to provide direction on implementing resolutions to any supply chain opportunitiesMust have knowledge of and remain current on transportation regulations and safety standards to ensure compliance at all timesPerform other duties as needed and directed by managementMinimum QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Operations Management or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum 5 years’ experience of progressive distribution and logistics knowledge2-3 years of experience managing transportation operations and personnelKnowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication, organizational, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skillsPossesses a proven track record in freight negotiationProficiency with Outlook; proficiency in Excel is an absolute must haveHistory of strong leadership and communication skillsPrior experience with EDI interface and shipping requirements of national retail chains such as Walmart, CVS, Walgreen, ULTA or other comparable nationwide or worldwide retail outletsAbility to independently organize and prioritize workload within a fast-paced environment to meet deadlinesMotivated, self-starter, organized, and effective communicatorProven capabilities in applying drive and initiative into projectsNote: The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees, but are not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified.
