Manager, Fleet Performance
GeologicAIDescription What You'll Do: Build the Fleet Performance Group from the ground up by establishing the operating model, team structure, governance cadences, and RASCI before the first hire joins Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team across Fleet Reliability & Support, Operations Performance, and Technical Knowledge as the group scales Hold final accountability for fleet uptime, configuration baselines, data processing pipeline integrity, and KPI reporting across all deployed Production assets globally Own the Production asset change management process: every change outside the approved MaintainX baseline requires your risk/benefit sign-off Drive the 50% SME support transfer on Day 1, scaling to 80% of routine support resolved by FPG within 6 months, and track Engineering demand to confirm capacity is genuinely released Represent Fleet Performance in monthly governance reviews and quarterly strategic sessions with Operations Leadership and the Director of Operations Partner with Engineering, Geoscience, Data Science, Regional Managers, and Project Managers on shared ownership zones, escalation boundaries, and cross-functional accountability What We'll Love About You: You’ve built operational functions before, and you know the first 90 days are about earning trust, not proving yourself right You think in systems: when you see a problem, you fix the process, not just the instance You’re as comfortable talking engineering trade-offs with a field technician as you are presenting KPIs to a VP You own the outcome even when the inputs are outside your control, and ambiguity doesn’t slow you down You understand that a fleet performance function lives or dies by the quality of its data, and you’ve built data discipline into teams before Key Responsibilities Develop and get executive sign-off on the FPG charter, mandate, and operating model Hire, onboard, and develop the team (10-15 FTE); grow to full org chart over 12–18 months Establish MaintainX as the system of record: asset hierarchy, PM templates, work order standards, and change management workflow Own all Production-asset change management decisions, including risk/benefit review and Engineering sign-off coordination where required Deliver the 50% 80% SME support transfer milestones; report progress monthly to Operations Leadership Define and maintain the escalation model (L1/L2/L3) and ensure FPG is executing to it Drive the continuous improvement loop: FPG monitors, Engineering improves, R&D innovates, FPG standardizes Report fleet KPIs monthly including uptime, MTTR, PM compliance, repeat failure rate, QC pass rate, and Engineer capacity released Travel Requirements: Up to 30% domestic and international travel to client sites, regional field offices, and GeologicAI offices globally; higher in the first 6 months during team and process establishment Skills, Education, and Experience Must Have Skills, Education, and Experience: 10+ years in asset management, fleet operations, or operational engineering in an industrial, field-deployed, or instrumentation environment Demonstrated experience building and leading cross-functional operational teams, not just managing established ones Direct experience with CMMS or asset management platforms (MaintainX, SAP PM, IBM Maximo, or equivalent) as a system of record Track record of driving measurable performance improvements against defined KPIs (uptime, MTTR, cost/hour, or similar) Experience managing geographically distributed teams and field operations across multiple time zones Strong understanding of change management, configuration control, and escalation model design Assets: Experience in mining, mining services, oil & gas, industrial IoT, or precision instrumentation industries Familiarity with data processing pipelines, sensor calibration, or geoscience data workflows Experience with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) or similar reliability engineering frameworks Prior experience managing a func…
