Manager, Fleet Operations (SWAPP)
Resource Transport, LLCThe Manager, Fleet Operations is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, coordination, and performance management of all company drivers operating within our Southwest Appalachia region including both day shift and night shift operations. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient transportation of frac sand to wellsites by overseeing driver schedules, Hours of Service (HOS), staffing levels, and operational execution. Working closely with Dispatch, HR/Recruiting, Safety, and Operations leadership, this position drives driver performance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across all Appalachia fleet operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Lead all Appalachia-based drivers on day and night shifts, and stay available after hours to support night operations and urgent needs. Manage driver schedules, assignments, and shift coverage to meet customer demand while staying within DOT Hours of Service rules. Monitor driver HOS and logs, and step in early on possible violations and reset needs. Act as the main point of contact for drivers on daily operations, expectations, and concerns, and work with Dispatch to get frac sand to wellsites safely and on time. Work with HR and Recruiting to forecast driver needs and to support hiring, onboarding, and training. Keep drivers following company policy, safety standards, and regulations. Retain them through coaching and regular communication, and handle performance, attendance, incident, and discipline issues. Work with Safety and Operations on incident investigations, corrective actions, and process improvements. Keep accurate driver records for schedules, compliance, and performance. Act as the main point of contact for carrier partners, covering onboarding, performance and SLA compliance, issue resolution, contract renewals, and record-keeping, working with internal teams. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in trucking, transportation, or logistics operations, including direct driver management experience. Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service, and safety compliance requirements. Proven leadership and people-management skills with the ability to effectively manage drivers across multiple shifts. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain accountability. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment. Ability to work cross-functionally with Dispatch, HR, Safety, and Operations teams. Proficiency in transportation management systems, ELD platforms, and standard business software. Maintain a valid driver’s license that meets the Company’s insurance requirements. Ability to read, write, and speak English. Physical Requirements: Safely drive and operate a company vehicle, including precise operation of vehicle controls such as the steering wheel, pedals, and gear shifter. Stay physically engaged, focused, alert, and responsive during extended shifts of 10+ hours. Maintain strong situational and visual awareness in busy, noisy environments, such as truck yards and loading docks. Respond to verbal instructions and audible alarms. Maintain hand-eye coordination for the safe handling and operation of equipment and tools. Stand or walk for much of the workday, including periods exceeding 8 hours. Walk and stand on uneven terrain in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, dust, rain, and high-noise environments. Climb ladders, stairs, and equipment. Reach above shoulder level and work in confined spaces while wearing full PPE. Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and crouch while performing job tasks. Push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to steel-toed boots, coveralls, hard hats or bump caps, safety glasses, and appropriate gloves, as needed.
