HR Synergy is partnering with a nonprofit‑focused outsourced accounting firm to hire a Manager, Financial Operations who will take a leadership role in guiding financial processes for a portfolio of clients. This position is ideal for a seasoned nonprofit accounting professional who enjoys mentoring others, optimizing systems, and helping organizations strengthen their financial health — all while working fully remotely with predictable business hours and no tax‑season demands.
About the Role
As the Financial Operations Manager, you will serve as both a strategic partner to clients and a hands‑on leader for a team of Financial Operations Associates. You’ll oversee a variety of accounting functions across multiple organizations, ensure the accuracy of month-end close processes, and bring consistency to financial workflows. Your expertise will support clients in making informed decisions while fostering excellence within your team.
Key Leadership Responsibilities
Client Financial Management
- Oversee the delivery of accounting services—including payables, receivables, month-end close, and financial reporting—for multiple nonprofit organizations.
- Strengthen clients’ financial infrastructure through process optimization, accurate analysis, and timely reporting.
- Act as an advisor to client leadership, helping them interpret financials and maintain compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
- Lead onboarding for new client engagements and ensure a smooth transition into established systems.
Team Leadership & Operational Oversight
- Provide coaching, guidance, and performance support to Financial Operations Associates.
- Monitor workloads, workflow consistency, and adherence to established protocols.
- Facilitate regular check‑ins, cultivate a high‑performing remote team environment, and champion professional development.
- Identify opportunities to streamline internal processes or introduce new efficiencies across the practice.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- 10+ years of nonprofit full‑cycle accounting experience, including AP/AR, month‑end close, financial reporting, and fund/grant accounting.
- 5+ years of advanced experience using QuickBooks Online or NetSuite.
- Demonstrated success supporting or overseeing multiple clients simultaneously.
- Strong client‑facing communication skills and a leadership style rooted in collaboration, clarity, and integrity.
- Comfort working in a cloud‑based environment and adopting new technology tools.
Preferred
- CPA or former CPA (audit experience especially valuable).
Schedule & Work Environment
- Remote position — work anywhere within U.S. time zones.
- Standard business hours (8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. EST/CST/MST/PST).
- Full‑time or part‑time arrangements available.
