Position Summary: The Line Manager - Exports is responsible for the commercial performance, profitability, and strategic growth of assigned export trade(s) from Canada. This role owns the development and execution of trade strategies that drive volume, revenue, contribution, market share, and long-term customer growth. The incumbent is expected to possess a deep understanding of market dynamics, customer segmentation, commodity flows, competitive positioning, and global trade developments. Leveraging both internal and external market intelligence, the Line Manager develops business plans, forecasting models, and strategic initiatives that support organizational objectives. The role serves as the primary commercial representative for the assigned trade(s), building and maintaining strong relationships with principals, customers, industry partners, and internal stakeholders while promoting MSC's market presence and value proposition across the Canadian export market. Level of Responsibility Enhanced task complexity and accountability to customer. Enhanced autonomy in role, contributing significantly to team/organizational projects. Accountable for accuracy and efficiency in assigned tasks. Full accountability for the commercial performance and profitability of assigned trade(s). Key Tasks Own the P&L performance, growth strategy, and commercial development of assigned export trade(s). Develop and execute short-, medium-, and long-term business strategies to achieve volume, revenue, yield, and market share objectives. Monitor market trends, commodity developments, competitor activity, and economic indicators to identify risks and growth opportunities. Produce accurate forecasts and business outlooks using internal reporting tools, market intelligence, and customer insights. Lead trade-related projects and initiatives aligned with MSC Canada's strategic objectives. Build and maintain strong relationships with principals, customers, industry associations, and key supply chain partners. Influence internal stakeholders across commercial, operations, customer service, equipment, and network teams to support trade objectives. Present trade performance, forecasts, business cases, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership. Represent MSC Canada at industry events, customer meetings, conferences, and business development activities. Continuously identify opportunities to improve profitability, customer retention, and market position. Excellent communication, influencing, negotiation, and presentation skills. Strong understanding of global transportation, logistics, and supply chain dynamics. Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound business decisions in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive organizational alignment. Bachelor’s degree in business, Commerce, Supply Chain, Transportation, Economics, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience within the transportation, logistics, shipping, or related industry. Demonstrated experience managing a significant commercial portfolio with revenue and growth accountability. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Office applications.
