Maintenance Planner - Crushing/Milling/Flotation
ConfidentialDescription: The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating fixed plant maintenance across the crushing, grinding and flotation circuits. Working closely with Maintenance, Process and Mechanical Engineering, the Maintenance Planner develops detailed job plans, manages the maintenance backlog, and coordinates labor, parts and equipment downtime so that preventive, predictive and corrective work is executed safely and efficiently. The Maintenance Planner applies strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to reduce repeat failures, maintains accurate maintenance records in the site ERP/CMMS, and communicates schedules and performance clearly to crews and leadership, all in support of mill availability, throughput, copper recovery and the site’s business goals. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Plan, schedule and coordinate preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance for fixed plant equipment in the crushing, grinding and flotation circuits, including crushers, screens, feeders and conveyors, ball mills, cyclones, slurry pumps, flotation cells and blowers, regrind mills, and associated lubrication, hydraulic and reagent systems. Develop detailed job plans and work packages that define scope, craft labor, parts and materials, special tools, isolation and lockout requirements, and estimated durations for routine work and major events such as mill relines, crusher liner, mantle and concave changes, conveyor belt replacements, and planned plant shutdowns. Coordinate equipment downtime with Operations and Engineering to minimize impact on mill throughput and copper recovery, and adjust schedules in response to emergent and unscheduled repairs. Build and maintain equipment hierarchies, bills of materials, PM task lists and maintenance history in the site ERP/CMMS; ensure work orders are accurately created, prioritized, costed and closed with complete failure and cause codes. Lead and participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of repeat and high-impact failures, such as bearing, gearbox, liner, pump and flotation mechanism failures; evaluate condition monitoring data (vibration, oil analysis, thermography, liner wear measurements) and recommend practical corrective actions and reliability improvements. Provide technical direction to maintenance crews and contractors on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication systems during planned work and emergency repairs. Work with Warehouse and Supply Chain to forecast and secure critical spares, liners, wear parts and long-lead components; kit and stage materials ahead of scheduled work. Define and manage contractor scopes of work for shutdowns and specialized services, and track contractor progress, quality and cost against the plan. Prepare and maintain clear, accurate documentation, including job plans, standard work instructions, shutdown plans and post-job reports, equipment records, and MSHA-related maintenance and inspection records. Communicate the weekly schedule, backlog status and key maintenance metrics (PM compliance, schedule compliance, planned versus unplanned work, backlog weeks) to maintenance and operations leadership, and lead or participate in daily and weekly planning and scheduling meetings. Read and interpret OEM manuals, engineering drawings, P&IDs and work orders to plan and support required maintenance and service. Ensure all planned work incorporates MSHA regulations and site safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, working at heights and hazard assessments; comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
