Maintenance Planner
Aspen Planers Ltd.Nicola Clean Power is a biomass power plant located in Merritt, BC. The plant burns wood residuals to provide steam to a Siemens steam turbine that is capable of generating 42 MW/h. The plant started up in March 2018 and has a 30-year contract with BC Hydro. Job Summary Plans work for a team of skilled maintenance professionals providing 24-hour services for the plant. Manages, develops, and leads overall maintenance schedules to maintain equipment availability and is an integral part of the team that plans and coordinates planned plant outages. Develops, manages, and supervises preventative maintenance programs and schedules to ensure plant reliability. Utilizes the Asset Management program to track KPIs and asset history. Works collaboratively with the Maintenance Manager, the Fuel Yard Superintendent, and the Operations team, to coordinate daily activities and long-term maintenance planning. The Maintenance Planner is expected to assist in searching for and developing new technical improvements and strategies for maintenance and reliability excellence. Duties Plan, schedule and coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance activities Work with plant personnel to continuously upgrade PMs and ensure compliance with PM program Identify, analyze, and review maintenance problems with plant personnel, including coordinating manpower, parts, materials and equipment. Work with the Maintenance Manager to develop the annual outage plans. Review work orders daily and ensure that they have been properly closed out by the team. Ensure that assigned work orders have been completed to a satisfactory standard and timeline, including informative comments. Maintain an active safety program ensuring the observation of safety precautions and safe work habits by all personnel. Ensure that housekeeping standards are maintained at the highest level possible. Build the appropriate safety measures into each work order. Assist with the purchasing function of parts and services to perform needed repairs and maintenance. Ensure kitting of WO’s to insure minimum delays for all non-emergency work. Engage in continuous improvement of Maintenance department by leading audits of PMs / WOs. To be trained to act as the Manager in charge during the absence of the Maintenance Manager Other duties as assigned by the Manager Requirements Education and Training: A red seal trades certification and/or equivalent experience. Experience: Minimum of ten years directly related maintenance experience. Must show evidence of solid leadership ability with a willingness to serve as an active team member. Must be able to demonstrate strong supervisory capability and ability to develop and manage a team effectively. Must have a commitment to customer service/satisfaction and workplace excellence; Ability to remain flexible, problem-solve effectively, and apply fair and consistent conflict resolution skills; High degree of professionalism; Ability to take and give direction, and work independently as well as a member of a team; Detail oriented; ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively. Preventative Maintenance Programs, Maintenance Program certifications are an asset PREFERENCES: Electrical and/or instrumentation trade or experience Previous experience in biomass power plants will be an asset. Familiarity with power plant operations is preferred. Experience with materials and inventory management is preferred. Experience building and maintaining a computerized preventative maintenance management system.
