Repsol has an opportunity for a Maintenance Operations Intern to join the Maintenance Operations team this summer, based in Horseheads, NY. This internship is open to students currently enrolled in either a 2-yr technical college or 4-year engineering degree program.

Internship Details:
Position will be supported onsite, M-F, non-exempt (hourly) 40 hrs. per week, in Horseheads, NY.
Students must be available for the full duration of the internship.
Interns will receive an hourly wage but are not eligible for benefits or paid time off. Interns will be compensated for observed company holidays.
Non-local candidates may be considered provided they meet the required qualifications and understand they are responsible for any travel to/from Horseheads and summer housing. A stipend is included to offset personal expenses.
Job Description:
The Maintenance Operations Intern will support the day‑to‑day maintenance, reliability, and operational readiness of Repsol’s field equipment and production facilities. This role is ideal for students who enjoy hands‑on mechanical work, problem‑solving, and active time in the field. The intern will work closely with Maintenance Technicians, Field Operators, and Production teams to help ensure that equipment is safe, reliable, and operating efficiently.
This internship provides exposure to the mechanical systems, equipment inspections, reliability methods, and preventive maintenance strategies that support upstream and midstream oil and gas operations.
The intern will gain real‑world experience in:
Field Maintenance & Operations Exposure
How production equipment is operated, inspected, and maintained (compressors, engines, gensets, pumps, and other rotating equipment).
Routine and preventive maintenance tasks that support safe and reliable operations including hands-on tasks with technicians.
Assist technicians while diagnosing equipment issues and prioritizing corrective maintenance activities.
Mechanical & Reliability Fundamentals
Basic troubleshooting techniques for mechanical systems.
Understanding common failure modes and equipment reliability drivers.
Work Management & Maintenance Planning
How maintenance tasks are planned, scheduled, and executed.
Exposure to work orders, spare parts programs, and maintenance documentation.
How risk assessment and operating standards guide maintenance activities.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Interaction with Maintenance Engineering, Integrity Engineering, Production Engineering, HSE, and Field Operations teams.
How data and field observations support operational decisions and long‑term reliability planning.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Mechanical Support
Participate in hands‑on maintenance activities within field operators related to rotating equipment (engines, compressors, gensets, and other equipment).
Assist with routine checks of production equipment and facility systems.
Help identify equipment needing repairs, calibration, or replacement.
Support reliability assessments by gathering field data and documenting equipment conditions.
Maintenance Program Support
Assist with developing or updating maintenance procedures, checklists, or standards.
Data, Documentation & Reporting
Help maintain maintenance records, equipment logs, and performance data.
Assist in developing reports related to equipment downtime, reliability, or maintenance activities.
Assist with predictive maintenance tools utilized to gather data on reciprocating compressors and engines
Project Work
Complete a summer-long project related to maintenance improvements, equipment reliability, digitalization, operational performance, or field/process optimization.
Present findings and recommendations to the Maintenance team and leadership at the end of the internship.
Minimum Requirements
Fully authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Additionally, we are not authorized for employment through OPT/CPT/F1 programs.
Currently enrolled in a 2 yr technical, engineering technology, or 4 yr engineering program.
GPA target: 3.0+ (flexible for technical college applicants).
Comfortable working in operating production facilities (repairing/maintaining equipment, wearing PPE).
Ability to work in loud environments and/or high ambient temperatures
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Detail-oriented, organized, and safety‑aware.
Available locally in the Horseheads, NY (or Northern PA) region for the full 12-week term.
