Job Overview R.C. Moore is seeking an experienced and strategic Maintenance Director to lead the maintenance operations of our tractor and trailer fleet across multiple locations. This senior leadership position is responsible for developing and executing company-wide maintenance strategies that maximize equipment reliability, improve fleet utilization, ensure regulatory compliance, control costs, and support the organization's operational goals. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong analytical mindset and extensive experience managing commercial fleet maintenance operations. Key Responsibilities Provide overall leadership and direction for all fleet maintenance operations. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability. Oversee maintenance and repair activities for tractors, trailers, and support equipment. Establish maintenance policies, procedures, and best practices across all locations. Monitor fleet performance metrics, including downtime, PM compliance, equipment utilization, repair costs, and shop productivity. Develop and manage annual maintenance budgets, capital expenditures, and forecasting initiatives. Analyze maintenance trends and identify opportunities to reduce operating costs and improve efficiency. Lead equipment lifecycle management, including replacement planning and asset utilization strategies. Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, environmental, and company safety requirements. Oversee vendor relationships, negotiate service agreements, and manage outside repair providers. Evaluate and implement maintenance technologies, systems, and reporting tools. Partner with Operations, Safety, and Finance teams to support business objectives and customer service goals. Direct roadside breakdown response programs and minimize service interruptions. Manage inventory levels, parts procurement, and supplier performance. Conduct facility and shop audits to ensure operational excellence and compliance. Recruit, train, coach, and develop maintenance managers, supervisors, and technicians. Establish performance expectations and accountability measures for maintenance personnel. Lead root-cause investigations related to equipment failures and implement corrective actions. Support acquisition integrations, fleet growth initiatives, and strategic company projects. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the maintenance organization. Required Qualifications 10+ years of progressive fleet maintenance, transportation equipment, or fleet management experience. 5+ years in a senior maintenance leadership role. Experience managing maintenance operations across multiple locations. Strong knowledge of Class 8 tractors and commercial trailer maintenance. Proven experience in fleet reliability, cost management, and maintenance planning. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Associate degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, Transportation, Supply Chain, or a related field. Industry certifications or OEM training. Advanced knowledge of heavy-duty truck and trailer diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance systems. What you will bring Strategic thinking and data-driven decision-making.
