Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will coordinate the safe, efficient, and quality-focused daily operation of the Orenda machine shop by translating production schedules into daily priorities, guiding operators, verifying quality and process compliance, maintaining records, and escalating risks or constraints. This is a hands-on lead role that may include production, setup, inspection, material movement, and troubleshooting. You will also work with Sales, Warehouse, Supply Chain, Design and Engineering, Purchasing, and other teams to support branch objectives. Your Day-to-Day Includes: Production Leadership and Scheduling · Translate the approved work-order schedule into clear daily priorities by machine, operator, material, tooling, and due date. · Maintain the machine-shop schedule, coordinate work centers, and communicate changes or delivery risks. · Assign operators and temporary labour based on workload, priority, and demonstrated competency. · Remain hands-on with production, setup, inspection, material movement, and problem solving as needed. Quality Assurance and Process Control · Complete first-piece, in-process, and final inspections against drawings, work orders, specifications, and approved samples. · Identify, contain, document, and escalate defects, material issues, specification gaps, and process deviations. · Ensure setup, quality, and end-of-job checks are completed, and records are accurate and traceable. · Coordinate corrective actions, product trials, samples, introductions, and controlled process changes. Safety, Equipment and Material Readiness · Lead safe daily execution and stop or escalate work when conditions create unacceptable risk. · Reinforce PPE, guarding, lockout, forklift, stacking, housekeeping, dust-control, and emergency-response requirements. · Coordinate equipment checks, maintenance, tooling changes, repairs, and contractor support. · Ensure required materials, packaging, labels, tooling, and consumables are ready for work. Training, Administration and Continuous Improvement · Train and coach employees on SOPs, machine operation, setup, quality checks, material handling, and housekeeping. · Verify competency before assigning independent work and identify retraining or supervised-practice needs. · Process work orders and maintain accurate productivity, quality, downtime, completion, and scheduling records. · Review operational indicators and identify improvements to safety, workflow, setup, quality, organization, and standard work. · Support cost control by reducing scrap and downtime and using labour, materials, and assets responsibly. What Do You Need to Succeed At A Minimum? Must-Have · Minimum four (4) years of relevant production, machine-shop or warehouse experience, or equivalent education and experience. · Lead-hand or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. · Ability to read work orders, drawings, specifications, and production schedules. · Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of setup, tooling, measuring devices, and quality inspection. · Proficiency with spreadsheets, scheduling tools, production records, and basic operational reporting. · Valid forklift certification and any other required certifications, maintained in good standing for assigned work. · Strong communication, sound judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to organize and manage competing priorities. · …
