Lumber Estimator

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Lumber Estimator to join our quoting team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately calculating material quantities needed for projects such as house framing. Your expertise will help ensure competitive pricing, efficient project planning, and successful project execution. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong negotiation skills, and have a solid foundation in construction estimating and project management. Duties Prepare detailed lumber estimates by reviewing blueprints, specifications, and project plans Collaborate with project managers, suppliers, and clients to negotiate pricing and secure the best value for materials without compromising quality. Develop comprehensive cost proposals that include material costs, labor, equipment, and other related expenses. Analyze project requirements to determine accurate quantities of lumber needed while considering waste factors and delivery schedules. Assist in managing procurement processes by sourcing reliable suppliers and tracking material deliveries to meet project timelines. Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and project documentation to ensure transparency and accountability. Support project management teams by providing timely updates on cost estimates and potential budget adjustments. Requirements Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on lumber or wood products. Proficiency with Bluebeam for digital plan review and HeavyBid for estimating processes. Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing from suppliers and vendors. Knowledge of construction practices, building codes, and project management principles. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings accurately. Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and external partners. Familiarity with construction estimating software and pricing strategies is highly preferred.
