Job Summary Dragon Woodland is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lumber Buyer / Procurement Specialist to join our team in Houston, Texas. This position will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing logs, lumber, and related raw materials from domestic and international suppliers. The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Mandarin, has strong negotiation and supplier-management skills, and has previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or material sourcing. The role requires regular travel to supplier locations, lumber mills, and industry events. Key Responsibilities Source, negotiate, and purchase logs, lumber, and related raw materials from domestic and international suppliers Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure stable supply and competitive pricing Evaluate supplier capacity, product quality, pricing, and delivery performance Monitor market conditions, pricing trends, and supply availability within the forestry and agricultural sectors Work closely with operations and logistics teams to coordinate deliveries, scheduling, and inventory planning Conduct supplier visits, site inspections, and supplier audits Prepare purchasing reports, forecasts, and cost analyses for management review Ensure procurement activities comply with applicable environmental, legal, and company requirements Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Forestry, Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered 1–3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or material buying Experience in lumber, forestry products, agriculture, commodities, or raw-material sourcing is preferred Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin is required Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier-management skills Ability to analyze market trends and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and ERP or purchasing systems Ability to travel approximately 40% , including visits to suppliers, lumber mills, and industry event Pay: $78,000.00 - $94,000.00 per year Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) 4% Match Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Vision insurance Work Location: In person
