Lumber & Building Materials Sales Estimator Location: Brandon, SD Job Type: Full-Time Salary: $70,000–$90,000 per year Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Build Your Career in Lumber, Building Materials & Sales We are looking for a Lumber & Building Materials Sales Estimator to join our team and help contractors and customers bring their construction projects to life. This is a hands-on role that combines building materials sales, estimating, customer service, project support, and yard operations . The ideal candidate understands construction materials, can read blueprints, prepare accurate material takeoffs and estimates, and enjoys working directly with contractors and customers. Schedule & Benefits Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Salary: $70,000–$90,000 per year We are closed on major holidays, including: New Year's Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving Day and the following day Christmas Day Additional benefits include: Paid vacation after probationary period Paid sick leave after probationary period Company-provided uniform shirts and coats Consistent Monday–Friday schedule Opportunity to grow sales and develop long-term customer relationships What You'll Do Assist customers in the yard and over the phone with product questions, material selection, and project needs Prepare material takeoffs, estimates, and bids for construction projects with or without blueprints Read and interpret blueprints to accurately bid lumber, siding, windows, doors, steel, and other building materials Consult with contractors and customers regarding building plans, materials, and project requirements Develop accurate and timely estimates based on customer specifications and construction plans Operate saws and cut lumber to customer-specified dimensions Load lumber and building materials into customer vehicles and trailers Work outdoors in the lumber yard and assist with daily yard operations Unload vendor trucks and operate a forklift Assist with stocking shelves and maintaining an organized yard and inventory Participate in year-end physical inventory Perform math and calculations related to measurements, quantities, pricing, and estimates Place orders with vendors and verify order acknowledgements Follow written and verbal instructions and company safety procedures Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors and customers Identify opportunities to grow sales through excellent customer service and relationship management What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent required 2-year or 4-year degree in construction or related field OR relevant industry experience Previous experience with construction estimating, plan takeoffs, and bidding required Knowledge of lumber and building materials preferred Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints Strong mathematical and measurement skills Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to work independently while contributing to a team Strong organization and attention to detail Clean driving record Ability to successfully complete a drug test and background check Ability to lift 80+ pounds unassisted Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in a lumber yard environment Join Our Team If you have experience with construction estimating, lumber and building materials, blueprint reading, sales, or contractor support , we'd like to hear from you.
