Who we are looking for! We are seeking a motivated Heavy Equipment Transport Driver, with at least 3 years of lowboy driving experience to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, the Equipment Transport Driver is responsible for safely loading, securing, transporting, and unloading heavy construction equipment and materials to and from job sites, yards, and vendor locations. With expertise operating primarily lowboy and flatbed trucks, the driver ensures timely and safe delivery of large machinery such as excavators, dozers, loaders, and other civil construction equipment. This role requires strict adherence to DOT regulations, company safety policies, and equipment handling procedures. Duties & Responsibilities: · Operate company vehicles to load, haul, and deliver heavy equipment and oversized loads safely to and from job sites. · Ensure all equipment and materials are correctly and safely secured using chains, binders, straps, and other load-securing devices. · Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each trip; report any mechanical issues promptly. · Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection records, and ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and FMCSA regulations. · Communicate with project managers, equipment manager, superintendents and site foremen for accurate delivery timing and placement. · Keep assigned trucks clean and in safe working order; report maintenance needs and assist with minor repairs when necessary. · When not driving, assist with general labor or equipment-related tasks as needed. · Respond quickly and professionally to equipment relocation needs due to schedule changes or urgent site requirements. Related skills & position requirements: · Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record. · Knowledge of federal and state DOT laws, oversize/overweight permitting, and load securement regulations. · Proficient in operating various heavy equipment for loading/unloading purposes. · Ability to read and interpret load charts, maps, and delivery schedules. · Strong time management and communication skills. · Familiarity with construction job site procedures and safety requirements. · Wear PPE and follow OSHA safety standards related to heavy civil work. · Self-motivated, dependable, cooperative, adaptable/flexible, pay attention to detail, show initiative, be persistent, ability to work independently and have integrity and self-control. Physical Demands: · Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 100 lbs. · Frequent climbing onto/off trucks and equipment. · Extended periods of driving, sitting, standing, and walking. · Requires bending, twisting, crouching, and kneeling in tight spaces. · Ability to work in all weather conditions and in physically demanding environments. Work Environment: · Primarily outdoors at construction sites, equipment yards, and public roads. · Exposure to noise, dust, moving machinery, and varying weather conditions. · May work irregular hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, or extended shifts depending on project demands. · Travel may be regional with overnight stays required based on job location.
