We're looking for someone who takes pride in being a professional driver, someone who understands that doing the job right means protecting the equipment, following DOT requirements, communicating with the field, and making sound decisions when conditions change.
For the right person, this is also an opportunity to continue developing a career in heavy-haul transportation, construction equipment, fleet operations, and equipment logistics.
What You'll Do:
• Safely operate a lowboy trailer between Maxwell facilities and construction jobsites.
• Load, position, secure, transport, and unload heavy construction equipment.
• Properly secure equipment using chains, binders, straps, and other approved securement devices.
• Plan safe routes while considering equipment dimensions, weight, bridge and roadway restrictions, construction conditions, and jobsite access.
• Obtain or coordinate oversized/overweight permits when required and follow applicable permit conditions.
• Communicate with supervisors, field crews, and operations regarding equipment moves, jobsite access, scheduling, traffic, and changing conditions.
• Assist with equipment staging, fueling, washing, yard activities, and other field support when hauling needs allow.
What We're Looking For
Required:
• Valid Class A CDL with an acceptable driving record.
• Experience safely operating and transporting construction or heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements, commercial vehicle inspections, cargo securement, and safe commercial driving practices.
• Ability to safely load and unload heavy equipment.
• Experience securing heavy loads using chains, binders, straps, and related equipment.
• Ability to work independently, manage changing priorities, and make sound safety decisions.
• Ability to read and follow routes, permits, jobsite directions, and transportation documentation.
• Ability to meet applicable DOT physical qualification and drug/alcohol testing requirements.
Experience we'd especially value:
• 3+ years of lowboy, heavy-haul, or construction equipment transportation experience.
• Experience hauling excavators, loaders, dozers, compactors, trenching equipment, or other heavy construction machinery.
• Oversized/overweight load experience.
• Permitting and heavy-haul route planning experience.
• Experience with multi-axle trailer configurations.
• Familiarity with heavy equipment operation and basic mechanical maintenance.
This is a hands-on construction transportation position. You'll regularly climb on and around trucks, trailers, and equipment; handle chains and binders; and load and unload construction equipment.
The position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather, terrain, traffic, noise, dust, and temperature conditions.
Construction schedules may include early mornings, extended workdays, evenings, and Saturdays depending on project and transportation needs.
More Than a Driving Job:
Working across Maxwell's projects gives you exposure to heavy equipment, equipment logistics, fleet coordination, field operations, route planning, permitting, and construction operations. If you're dependable, safety-minded, and interested in building your capabilities, there is plenty to learn.
So if you're an experienced Class A CDL driver who takes pride in your equipment, your driving record, and getting the job done safely, we'd like to hear from you.
