The Logistics Staff member supports daily shelter operations by managing inventory, receiving and organizing supplies, coordinating deliveries, and ensuring essential materials and resources are available to staff and shelter guests. This position plays an important role in maintaining an organized, safe, and efficient environment that supports the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness. Working closely with Shelter Operations Supervisors, Unit Leads, Intake Specialists, and other facility staff, the Logistics Staff member is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, distributing supplies, monitoring stock levels, and supporting general facility operations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, computer proficiency, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced shelter environment. Please note: At this time, this is a 5-month contract with no benefits. There may be an opportunity for contract extension after the 5-month period ends. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Inventory Management & Supply Control Receive, inspect, organize, and store incoming supplies, materials, donations, and equipment. Maintain accurate inventory records using established electronic tracking systems. Conduct routine inventory counts and identify shortages, discrepancies, or damaged items. Monitor supply levels and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed. Ensure supplies are properly labeled, organized, and stored in designated areas. Track inventory usage and maintain documentation of supplies received and distributed. Assist with identifying supply needs based on shelter occupancy and daily operations. Supply Distribution & Guest Support Prepare and distribute hygiene kits, linens, clothing, bedding, and other essential supplies to shelter guests. Coordinate with Intake Specialists and shelter staff to ensure supplies are available for incoming guests. Maintain adequate supplies in guest areas, intake stations, and other designated locations. Respond to supply requests from shelter staff in a timely and organized manner. Assist with distributing donated items and other resources according to established procedures. Interact with shelter guests respectfully and professionally while maintaining appropriate boundaries. Receiving, Deliveries & Storage Coordinate the receipt and organization of incoming deliveries and donated materials. Load, unload, and transport supplies and equipment to designated storage areas. Verify deliveries against packing slips or other documentation and report discrepancies. Maintain clean, organized, and accessible storage areas. Follow established procedures for the safe handling and storage of materials. Assist with coordinating the movement of supplies and equipment throughout the facility. Facility Operations & Logistics Support Assist with setting up and breaking down areas for meals, shelter activities, and special events. Move tables, chairs, bedding, equipment, and other materials as needed to support shelter operations. Coordinate with shelter staff to ensure necessary supplies are available for daily activities. Identify and report facility maintenance needs, damaged equipment, and potential safety hazards. Support cleaning, organization, and sanitation efforts in supply and storage areas. Assist with other operational tasks as needed to maintain a safe and functional shelter environment.
