We are seeking a candidate for a Logistics Specialist with experience in shipping, export/import processes, and international documentation.

Qualifications

General Position Summary

 

The Logistics Specialist provides coordination, administration and technical expertise for inbound and outbound transportation to improve operating performance and visibility and reduce costs and delays.

 

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate routing of shipments from vendors direct to warehouse(s) and also outbound to customers/installation service providers including tradeshow shipments.
  • Identify exceptions and report to vested parties in timely manner
  • Source new lane rates, complete vendor scorecards + QBRs (as needed)
  • Work with customs and broker to ensure timely releases of shipments.
  • Audit, dispute and code carrier and custom broker invoices according to negotiate rates/quotes.
  • Develop and report key metrics for shipments with our carriers/service providers.
  • Field and respond to inquiries across all departments regarding shipment status.
  • Write and conduct RFPs for department as required
  • Analyze data as required by interdepartmental groups
  • Participate in documentation and continuous improvements of outbound shipping processes.
  • Participate in QA process audits and provide support as needed
  • Document process, prepare and file documentation for duty drawback claims.
  • Provide rate quoting support for Sales as needed.
  • Process, review, and resolve OSD (Overs, Shorts, and Damaged) claims with our carriers/service providers.
  • Process and monitor diversion requests for customer direct shipments.
  • Assist in the preparation duty drawback claims.

 

Specific Job Requirements

 

  • Knowledge of international and domestic transportation, customs compliance, freight negotiation, multi-modal transportation, multi-stop shipments, financial management and data analysis.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret freight payment procedures and carrier pricing contracts.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent Communication skills required, written and verbal

 

Education and Experience Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred concentration in business, logistics or related field
  • 3 + years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office suite, Oracle and TMS systems.
  • Experience with Access or another database systems a plus.
  • Freight negotiation experience
  • Duty Drawback Experience preferred
  • Local candidates preferred.
