Kurt BridgeSenior Logistics Sales Executive Location: Remote / Hybrid Cedar Rapids, IA Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: DOE Base Salary + Commission Commission: Typically 8 10% of margin dollars Industry: Transportation & Logistics About the Role We are looking for an experienced Senior Logistics Sales Executive who knows how to hunt, build relationships, and - most importantly - turn those relationships into active freight business. This is a hands-on individual contributor sales role . You will not be responsible for managing a sales team. Instead, your focus will be on developing new customers, expanding business, and generating profitable freight opportunities. The ideal candidate will bring an existing network of transportation customers or a somewhat portable book of business that can help generate activity within the first 30 60 days. While an existing book of business is strongly preferred, we are open to candidates from outside traditional freight brokerage or transportation if they have the right customer relationships, sales track record, and ability to generate new business quickly. Our business is approximately 70 75% spot/project-based , with a strong presence in specialty freight . We also handle contract freight when the opportunity provides the right margin and strategic fit. Key Responsibilities Identify, prospect, and develop new customer relationships within the transportation and logistics market. Leverage existing customer relationships and industry contacts to generate new freight opportunities. Build and maintain a strong pipeline of profitable business. Target customers with recurring or project-based transportation needs, with an emphasis on spot, project, and specialty freight . Develop customized transportation and logistics solutions based on each customer's requirements. Build trusted, long-term relationships with shippers and decision-makers. Generate new business through prospecting, networking, referrals, industry relationships, and existing contacts. Negotiate pricing, rates, and contracts while maintaining healthy margins. Manage the sales process from initial prospecting through customer acquisition and ongoing relationship development. Partner with internal operations and brokerage teams to ensure a smooth transition and strong execution once business is secured. Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and increase customer spend. Monitor transportation and logistics market conditions, customer needs, and competitive activity. Maintain accurate sales activity, pipeline, and customer information. Take ownership of revenue generation and consistently work toward measurable sales and margin goals. What We're Looking For Proven experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, 3PL, or a closely related industry is strongly preferred. Demonstrated success in new business development and sales hunting . Existing relationships with shippers, customers, or transportation decision-makers are highly valued. A portable book of business or active customer relationships that can realistically generate new opportunities within the first 30 60 days is strongly preferred. Experience selling spot, project, specialty, or other non-contract freight is a strong advantage. Ability to independently prospect, open doors, develop relationships, and close new business. Strong understanding of freight pricing, margins, negotiations, and customer requirements. Proven ability to generate measurable revenue and margin results. Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a performance-driven environment. Ability to operate with urgency and demonstrate early business-development activity. Candidates from outside traditional brokerage or transportation may be considered if they have transferable customer relationships and a strong track record of generating business quickly.
