Responsibilities
• Direct the daily operations of Uline's distribution center to ensure safe, accurate, and prompt order fulfillment.
• Oversee inbound and outbound logistics activities, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping.
• Formulate and implement labor plans, staffing schedules, and workflow priorities to meet service level, productivity, and cost targets.
• Monitor crucial performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time shipping, order accuracy, inventory accuracy, and productivity metrics, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and lean principles to streamline operations, minimize waste, and boost overall efficiency.
• Work closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Transportation, and Customer Service teams to support forecasted demand and resolve operational issues.
• Oversee inventory control practices, conduct cycle counts, and carry out root cause analysis of discrepancies to ensure high inventory accuracy.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements, including OSHA and other safety standards, while promoting a culture of safety in the facility.
• Provide coaching, development, and mentorship to supervisors and front-line associates, offering performance feedback and facilitating career growth.
• Engage in budgeting and cost management activities, identifying opportunities to optimize operating expenses while ensuring service quality.
• Assist in the adoption of new systems, equipment, and processes, ensuring efficient integration and minimal disruption to operations.
• Represent distribution operations in cross-functional projects focused on network optimization, capacity planning, and service enhancement.
Required Skills
• Expertise in warehouse operations management
• Proficiency in distribution center management
• Strong inventory management skills
• Experience in transportation and logistics coordination
• Understanding of demand planning and forecasting
• Familiarity with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems)
• Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Data analysis and reporting capabilities (Excel, BI tools)
• Dedication to process improvement / Lean principles
• Labor planning and scheduling experience
• Budgeting and cost control expertise
• Health, safety, and OSHA compliance knowledge
