Logistics Manager – Freight Brokerage Location: Rockford, IL Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: DOE + Performance-Based Bonus About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager with strong freight brokerage / 3PL leadership experience to lead, grow, and scale our freight brokerage division. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a proven brokerage professional who understands how to build a profitable book of business, develop customer and carrier relationships, recruit and develop high-performing teams, improve margins, and establish accountability across the operation. This is not a maintenance role . The goal is to build a stronger, more scalable and more profitable brokerage operation capable of reaching $50M+ in revenue and continuing to grow . What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is an established freight brokerage leader with a proven track record in: Growing freight brokerage / 3PL revenue and gross profit Building and managing brokerage teams Developing and expanding customer relationships Building strong carrier networks Managing pricing, margins, and profitability Improving brokerage processes and operational efficiency Using TMS data and KPIs to drive business decisions Managing brokerage risk, compliance, and carrier qualification Creating accountability and developing future leaders You should be comfortable working at both the strategic and operational levels —from developing the brokerage growth strategy to stepping onto the brokerage floor and helping solve customer, carrier, or operational issues. Key ResponsibilitiesBrokerage Growth & Profitability Develop and execute a strategy to aggressively grow freight brokerage revenue and gross profit . Identify opportunities to expand existing customer accounts and win new business. Drive sustainable margin improvement through pricing strategy, carrier procurement, and disciplined execution . Own key brokerage KPIs, including revenue, gross profit, margin percentage, load volume, revenue per employee, and customer retention. Partner with executive leadership and Finance on forecasting, budgeting, and overall brokerage performance. Help position the brokerage division for $50M+ in revenue growth . Brokerage Leadership & Team Development Lead, coach, and develop brokerage operations, sales, and support teams . Assess the current organization and build the team required to support future growth. Recruit, train, and develop high-performing freight brokerage talent . Establish clear goals, expectations, performance metrics, and accountability. Develop future leaders and build a scalable organization that does not depend on one individual. Create a culture focused on urgency, communication, ownership, and results. Freight Brokerage Operations Oversee the complete brokerage lifecycle from customer order through carrier procurement, load execution, tracking, and billing . Evaluate existing brokerage processes and identify opportunities to improve speed, accuracy, service, and scalability. Establish repeatable processes that allow the brokerage operation to grow without compromising customer service. Utilize McLeod, TMS technology, operational reporting, and data analytics to identify problems and opportunities. Develop meaningful dashboards and performance reporting for the brokerage operation. Improve workflows, technology utilization, and overall operational efficiency. Carrier Development & Risk Management Build and maintain a reliable, scalable carrier network .
