Job Title: Logistics Manager Location: Pittsburg, KS Pay: $55,000 - $70,000+ a year (Base + commission/bonuses) Job Type: Full-time Job Description: The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing transportation and fleet operations in Pittsburg, KS. This role provides operational leadership over dispatching, freight management, fleet utilization, driver compliance, and transportation planning while working closely with Senior Foremen, Project Managers, Mechanics, and Executive Leadership to support construction projects and business growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Transportation and Fleet Operations Oversee daily transportation and hauling operations to ensure optimal efficiency. Coordinate truck, trailer, driver, and equipment assignments aligned with project and customer needs. Monitor fleet utilization, identify opportunities to improve efficiency, and minimize non-productive downtime. Work closely with field leadership to address operational challenges. Freight Brokerage and Revenue Development Source and secure high-margin hauling opportunities. Negotiate freight rates and transportation agreements to maximize profit margins. Build relationships with brokers, vendors, customers, and industry partners. Monitor revenue-per-mile, utilization, and profitability metrics to meet performance targets. Fleet Management and Equipment Coordination Coordinate preventative maintenance scheduling with the maintenance team. Monitor fleet performance, inspection records, and repair history. Track equipment availability and assist with replacement planning and capital asset recommendations. Collaborate with mechanics to minimize equipment downtime. Compliance, Risk Management & Time Tracking Administer transportation compliance programs and maintain driver qualification files. Enforce accurate time tracking for drivers and fleet personnel to ensure regulatory compliance and pay accuracy. Monitor CDL renewals, medical certifications, MVR reviews, and required drug/alcohol testing programs. Ensure full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company policies, supporting audits and inspections as needed. Driver Recruitment & Workforce Support Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training top-tier drivers. Coordinate driver orientation, compliance training, and retention initiatives. Technology & Systems Administration Administer GPS, ELD, telematics, and fleet management software. Analyze operational data to generate reports on utilization, safety, efficiency, and profitability. Maintain transportation procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation, fleet management, logistics, construction operations, or trucking required. Education: Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent industry experience considered. Leadership: Proven supervisory or management experience leading drivers and fleet operations. Compliance & Tech: Strong working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, dispatch software, telematics, and time-tracking systems. Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred. Experience in construction or aggregate hauling is strongly preferred.
