Logistics Manager-Carmel, IN

The Logistics Manager will have responsibility for processes and programs to ensure efficient and cost- effective movement of materials and finished goods for the business. This role will ensure that logistics processes and programs enable the business to maximize customer service performance while minimizing costs and working capital.

Proactively searches the supply chain network to identify cost, optimization and process improvement opportunities. Synthesize the results in a clear and concise manner present to executive management and to the customer and work to implement the solution.

What You Will Do:

  • Research and analyze domestic and international transportation and supply chain cost savings opportunities utilizing data maintained in various databases with regional scope.

  • Develop and implement operational solutions on a lane and network level. 

  • Develop an understanding of customer processes to enhance cross-functional initiatives and effectively communicate/integrate improvements. 

  • Research root cause of issues, recommend improvements in existing processes and implement action plans​

  • Lead supporting activities for Logistics Strategy Deployment

  • Responsible for managing RFP and bidding processes for various types of transportation services with carrier partners

  • Develop, implement, and monitor performance of Logistics programs and processes to ensure the efficient and cost-effective movement of raw materials, work-in process and finished goods

  • Develop programs and manage relationships with logistics service providers to optimize the movement of finished goods through distribution networks

  • Develop logistics and transportation policies, business practices, and programs to support the short term and long-range business needs

  • Monitor and improve internal processes to ensure timely payment to Logistics Service Providers and report out KPI’s for the logistics function

  • Align with regional and Site Supply Management to drive overall cost savings (productivity)

  • Ensure the development and execution of trade compliant processes for export and import shipments, incorporating steps to drive cost effective and timely delivery to global customers.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards for cost control, shipping policies and initiatives

  • Determines logistics service provider assignments based on Corporate Routing Guides

  • Strives for excellent logistics performance while achieving a low cost-to-serve model

  • Primary backup for Logistics & Distribution Manger, Americas Region

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred

  • At least 5 years of supply chain, procurement, operations or related experience

  • 3+ years of experience in Transportation or Logistics Management

  • Import and export experience preferred

  • Strong business acumen, analytical thinking, and risk management skills

  • Strong project management and process development skills. Leadership of projects or teams in a matrix environment preferred.

  • Experience with large, complex cross-functional projects preferred

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence at all levels of the organization, as well as strong relationship management skills

  • Proficient to an advanced user of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point

  • Experienced in using various ERP’s and TMS’s like Oracle and Microsoft AX

  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) up to 20% per year
