Role Type: Full-time, Director level About Our Client Our client is a growing, Tampa-based technology and manufacturing company that supports U.S. government and defense programs. Operating in a highly regulated environment, the company works closely with prime contractors, subcontractors, and government agencies, and holds itself to strict compliance and audit standards. With multiple locations and rapid growth underway, it is investing in the infrastructure, people, and systems needed to scale its operations while staying fully audit-ready. Job Description This is a brand-new, very hands-on Director role: you will be the company's first logistics leader and will build the logistics, materials management, and government property program from the ground up. You will design the processes, systems, and policies that govern how materials and government property are received, tracked, moved, and reconciled, and you will be the face of the program in government, prime, and subcontractor audits. Day to day, you will roll up your sleeves on inventory control, shipping and transportation planning, and compliance documentation, while setting the long-term strategy and standing up the ERP, KPIs, and reporting that keep the program accurate and efficient. You will partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Program Management, Finance, and Quality to support contract execution, and you will recruit and develop the team that grows with the program. The ideal candidate is a builder who has set up compliant government property and logistics programs inside a government contractor, enjoys creating structure where none exists, and is comfortable owning both strategy and execution. Duties and Responsibilities Build and execute the logistics and materials management strategy across transportation, warehousing, distribution, and inventory control. Establish compliant processes for Government-Furnished Property (GFP) receipt, tracking, and reconciliation. Oversee inventory management plans, control procedures, cycle counts, and reconciliations. Lead shipping coordination, transportation planning, and compliant transfer documentation. Develop and enforce policies and procedures for materials management and logistics. Ensure full compliance with FAR 52.245-1, DFARS clauses, and contract-specific property requirements. Own lifecycle accountability for GFP, Contractor-Acquired Property (CAP), and company-owned materials. Serve as the point of contact for government, prime, and subcontractor audits, and keep the program audit-ready. Manage property loss investigations, reporting, and corrective action closure. Oversee property flow-down compliance for subcontractors and maintain MMAS accountability and controls. Oversee ERP setup, configuration, and data integrity for materials management. Implement KPIs, dashboards, and compliance reports, and adopt logistics technology and automation. Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Program Management, Finance, and Quality on contract execution and audit needs. Assess compliance, cost, delivery, and inventory security risks, and drive continuous improvement. Manage budgets, forecasting, carrier relationships, and vendor performance. Hire, build, and lead the logistics team. Required Experience/Skills 15+ years in logistics, materials management, or government property accountability, including leadership roles. Experience working for a government contractor (not solely for the military) in logistics, GFP, and building a logistics program. Direct experience with FAR/DFARS, government property management, and MMAS compliance. Proven success managing GFP, CAP, and lifecycle property accountability.
