Logistics Coordinator

Job Description

As a Logistics Coordinator you will play a crucial role in our daily operations. Your responsibilities will include planning and scheduling transportation for goods for best use of truck/route in a fast paced environment.

Primary Work Activities and Responsibilities:

• Ensures shipping guidelines are adhered to according to client and company specifications and requirements

• Coordinate shipments and communicate booking information and instructions to relevant parties.

• Builds and maintains relationships with various transportation companies, including maintaining cargo insurance, WSIB coverage letters, etc. • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with carriers ensuring effective communication and timely resolution of issues. • Proactively provide current knowledge of freight rates and factors affecting them and works to optimize cost efficiency.

• Collaborates with internal teams and external partners to streamline logistics operations and improve overall performance.

• Tracks shipments and provides updates to stakeholders to ensure delivery deadlines are met.

• Manages customer expectations by ensuring timely communication of shipments/Units status and providing necessary details, updates, and solutions to address client needs.

Experience and Technical Skills Required:

• 2+ years of experience in logistics, dispatch, transportation or similar industry

• Strong problem-solving skills, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

• Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel and Outlook, and capable of using other logistics-related software.

• Skilled in navigating transportation provider websites and platforms to manage bookings and shipments efficiently.

• Knowledge of customs regulations, permit requirements, and the ability to ensure compliance in all shipments.

• Strong ability to identify issues, review data, and develop effective solutions to improve logistics processes.

• Demonstrated knowledge of shipping procedures, including international shipping protocols, packaging, and documentation requirements.

• Strong attention to detail, highly developed organizational skills and critical thinking abilities.

• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, while effectively managing multiple priorities.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to initiate, develop, and maintain positive and productive working relationships at all levels of the organization
