JOB SUMMARY: The Shipping & Receiving Operator works in the shop area and is responsible for shipping of orders (both domestic and export), arranging transportation pick up from vendors as coordinated with the Procurement Manager and the warehousing of incoming goods. Responsible for making sure supplies, stock, materials, packaging, and/or products are processed through the delivery and/or warehouse system efficiently and safely. When receiving and shipping duties are light, the Shipping & Receiving Operator will assist the shop area team in general product assembly and testing duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinate the inbound and outbound shipping and receiving requirements relating to finished product, components and raw materials. Liaise with freight carriers to ensure their best performance in achieving customer satisfaction. This includes package tracking and information exchange with the Sales Department when requested. Work with the Procurement Manager to ensure that the best service rates are provided to the Company by 3rd party suppliers. Preparation of all relevant documentation for outgoing freight. Ensure received materials are reported to the Finance and Purchasing functions in order to trigger appropriate payment. Conduct goods received quality checks from suppliers to confirm compliance with purchase order and supplier delivery note. Preparation of shipments; assembling, packing, protecting and labelling. Responsible for verification of incoming material, loading and unloading of deliveries and shipments. Manage goods returned, damage issues and recovery of shipments. Preparation of reports for management OTHER FUNCTIONS: Performs other duties as assigned within the manufacturing and assembly area of the facility. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education: A vocational qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing.) or equivalent experience in a precision mechanical and / or electrical manufacturing, assembly and testing business. Experience: 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing with experience of domestic and export activity Background: Able to sign BATF background check declaration and achieve approval by this agency or its designee to work at the facility. This is required in support of the shipment of hazardous goods for which 3rd party training leading to certification will be provided. Knowledge: Experience in handling the needs of both internal and external customers in a manufacturing, product assembly environment. Certified in use of forklift truck an advantage. Knowledge of a warehouse management system. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, resourceful and self-driven. Preferred knowledge of MS Office 365 systems.
